Guests will not only enjoy the villa and encompassing estate, but also the richness of the Italian cities in nearby regions. Day trips will allow students to add arts, culture, adventure, and natural beauty to their retreat experience. Trips include visits to small villages, large cities, and outdoor activities, even a thermal spa deep in the heart of Tuscany where guests can swim, drink mineral waters, schedule spa treatments, or simply enjoy the town.
A full day will be spent in one of Italy's most spectacular cities, Florence - the home of the Renaissance. Enjoy seeing world famous works of art, as well as monuments, one-of-a-kind lookouts, and feeling the modern bustle of this compact city. Enjoy a meal in a unique Florentine restaurant, and even a gelato (or two) during the day!
We are also planning to go to Assisi, a source of inspiration for many people. We will visit the chapel of St. Frances of Assisi, stop at a local Taverna for lunch, visit a beautiful Italian Lake, and make a stop in Cortona, home of the author, Frances Mayes, of Under the Tuscan Sun.

What is the weather like in Tuscany in September?
September is usually one of the most pleasant months of the year in Tuscany. It is still warm, with summer-like weather, but not hot.
Usually, the first half of the month is hotter than the second half. In early September, most people are still going to the beach regularly. It is warm enough that you can comfortably wear your summer clothes from dawn to dusk, and it is still great weather for dining outdoors and using swimming pools.
What kind of clothes will I need for the trip?
The weather is mild, so pack some shorts, light pants, sneakers, sandals, and a few light sweaters for layers during evening or early morning hours and for boat excursions.
What is the food like in Tuscany (Cuisine)?
Healthful, traditional Tuscan food is part of the retreat experience, including breakfasts and dinners daily , as well as some selected lunches. The cuisine is simple, delicious and Italian, using fresh ingredients, much of which is organically grown. The estate is also a winery, so guests will enjoy great wine made on premises.
What if I want a private room (no sharing)? Private rooms will be available for 500 euro extra and on an availability basis
How to get from a to b....what is transportation like?
You will be transported from the local train station of Poggibonsi to the villa. Tuscany is different than being in a city. For transportation outside of our scheduled excursions you will need to arrange your own transportation. Buses do travel throughout Tuscany, but not as frequently as in big cities. The villa is happy to help with finding transportation if needed, or you have the option to rent your own car for the day.
What is the currency exchange from dollars to euro's?
Currently one Euro is equal to $1.30. The currency does change frequently. To check the current currency exchange rate, you can go to: http://www.xe.com/ucc/
What should I budget for meals?
All breakfasts and dinners are included int the cost of the retreat as well as two lunches. While out on excursions for lunches, you can choose simple meals if you wish. Try a few appetizers and salad for lunch.
I would like to immerse myself in yoga and self-exploration while I'm there. Is there time for that? YES! There will be plenty of time to reflect, do your own practice, journal, photography, painting, whatever your creative outlet is.
Are private yoga sessions and massage available?
YES! Dina & Sherry are available for private sessions with yoga, meditation, and breath work. Sherry is also available for individual Thai Yoga Massage sessions or Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy. Fees will be reviewed on first day.
Do people speak and understand English?
Most people understand some English, however, take your guide book as in the smaller towns do not understand English as well.
Should I bring any yoga props with me (blocks, strap)?
You should bring everything you need to practice yoga, especially your mat. If you would like props please bring them. Most blocks are lightweight and you can pack a belt or scarf to use as a strap. We can improvise if you need it!
